When the whole world went bonkers about Harry Potter, I was in my burrow. But, I managed to surface last year, and read all the seven books in January 2015, like I was dying in a month, and that I had to finish in a breakneck pace. Consolation prize: I didn’t have to endure the wait for the next book in the series. 🙂
I pretty much assumed the same behaviour when Gone Girl was published. Again last year, I called in sick one random day, and wolfed it down like there was no tomorrow.
There are many, many such popular books in my TBR. The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is one of those. When my friend Bina of If You Can Read included the book in her winter-reads, I confessed that it’s in my TBR too. And, we decided to read it along.
By now, I should have finished the first seven chapters. But, I digressed, and stole time to read a couple of other books (The Blue Between Sky and Water by Susan Abulhawa — because the author will talk about the book in a lit fest that will be held here on January 17, and Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert — because it was compelling, and uplifting).
If you want to join us, it’s still not late.
Bina has charted a schedule though. (Sorry Bina. I promise to catch up.) 🙂
I am quoting Bina here:
Here’s the schedule:
“January 8th: Chapter 1 – 7
January 15th: Chapter 8 – 14
January 22nd: Chapter 15 – 22
January 31st: Chapter 23 – the end
We’ll be posting our thoughts weekly and do a wrap-up post at the end of January.
If you’re one of the last people left who haven’t read the book, if you’re in the mood for a reread or just want to have a good laugh at our reactions to plot twists etc, you’re welcome to join us!”
And, and, I must admit. The prologue was a good tease. I look forward to progressing. 🙂
